Ronald Podgurski

Ronald Podgurski, age 72, of Canton, passed away March 30, at the Taunton Nursing Home. Born and raised in Canton, he attended the Gridley School and was a lifelong resident of the town. He worked as a truck driver for many years and also worked as a printer for SemLine Paper Mill. He was well known throughout Canton as an entrepreneur. He was the coach and manager for the Big Ds girl's softball team for many years and an avid hunter and dart player. Ronald was an active member of the Evangelical Baptist Church in Sharon, where he drove the Sunday school bus and played on the mens softball team. He was the father of Donna Doherty of Stoughton, Cheryl Amaral of Middleboro, Susan Soares of Attleboro, Ronald Podgurski of Harwich, Judith Thomas of Middleboro, Katherine Podgurski of Brockton, Rhonda Podgurski and Craig Podgurski both of Stoughton; brother of Karen Nye and Shirley Mattsom both of Maine and the late Richard Podgurski. Also survived by 21 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Visiting hours were at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington St., Canton, Thursday, April 9, from 5-8 p.m. The visiting hours were concluded with a prayer service at 8. Burial private.
