I think about Dr. Lord and his music at Christmas time. He wrote a song called “Christmas Lullaby” that was frequently sung at Christmas services at Christ Episcopal. Considering all that he accomplished in his life, he may have regarded this a minor creation. But to me and my family, that song resonates. I wish it was recorded somewhere so I could hear it other than in my memory . RIP Dr Lord.

Dr. Lord was my idol when I studied music at the U of Pgh. I can still hear Dr. Lord's stunning performance of Purcell's Trumpet Tune and Trumpet Voluntary at my wedding in Heinz Chapel nearly 40 years ago. He was truly a man for the ages.
To the Lord Family: may the love and memories shared be his legacy for you to cherish forever. RIP, Dr. Lord. A job well-done.

His interpretations of the hymns at the Smithfield Church years ago made the sanctuary an even more special place to be. Sincere condolences to his family.

Dear Martha and the Lord Family,
I was deeply saddened to read of Dr. Lord's(Bob) passing. I had not seen him much in recent years but, remember him well. We always enjoyed a good chat and a laugh every time I ran into him in the music building at Pitt. He was a warm a gracious guy and we had a lot in common. We were both big fans of musical improvisation. Love to all of the family. He will certainly be missed .
