Irene H. Murphy

1932 - 2018

Irene H. Murphy, age 86, of Plymouth, passed away on November 12, 2018 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth. She was the sister of Charles J. Murphy and his wife Diane of Idaho, Bernice A. Murphy of Plymouth and Veronica B Kordas of Weymouth. She was the Aunt to Charles J. Murphy and his wife Joelle of Dedham and cousin to Joseph F. Murphy and his wife Anne of Milton. Irene was born on May 25, 1932 in Boston to Charles and Irene (Finney) Murphy. She attended elementary school at St. Josephs School in Quincy and graduated high school from Mount St. Josephs Academy in Brighton. She held three Master Degrees from Boston College, Northeastern University, and Manhattan College of the Sacred Heart in Purchase, New York. She was a licensed Psycho Theologist and was Senior Vice President of the McGraw Hill Publishing Company. She enjoyed reading, writing, music, art and poetry. She was a Nun with the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Josephs in Boston, MA for twenty years. She was a member of the St. Peters Womens League, Plymouth Womens Club, and NCEA (National Catholic Education Association). Irenes life was devoted to Catholic education and in her later years she taught classes at St. Peters and she will be missed by the Womens Club. A funeral Mass will take place on Monday, November 19, 2018, 10:30 a.m. at St. Peters Church, 86 Court Street, Plymouth. Interment will be private.
