Roger Dunlap Obituary

Roger L. Dunlap, 87, passed away peacefully at home in Plymouth on January 13, 2016. He was the loving husband of Marie L. (Boutin) Dunlap, with whom he recently celebrated 67 years of marriage. A lifelong Plymouth resident, he was the son of the late Frank C. Dunlap Sr. and Olive (Leach) Dunlap. Following his graduation from Plymouth High School, Roger recognized the growing trend of gas heat and established the propane business in 1949. He was an active participant in the Rotary Club of Plymouth with more than 40 years of perfect attendance, during which time he served as president (1975-1976) and was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow. A longtime member of Chiltonville Church and a Mason, Roger also enjoyed golf, bowling and weekly lunch dates with his wife. Roger was the devoted father of three children, Paul and his wife Diane (Watts) Dunlap of Plymouth, David and his wife Eileen (Sepmeyer) Dunlap of Charlotte, NC, and his late daughter, Jean (Dunlap) Jayko. He was the beloved Grampie to five grandchildren and their families, Shari (Dunlap) Bates, her husband William, and their children Amber and Joshua; Scott Dunlap, his wife Layne, and their children Ella and Colin, all of Plymouth; Emily (Jayko) Salvucci and her husband Richard of Hingham; Timothy Jayko and his wife Nicole of Ballston Lake, NY; and Lauren Dunlap of Charlotte, NC. Roger is also survived by son-in-law Carl Jayko, his wife Elin, and her son Daniel ORourke; step-grandchildren, Lindsay (Zoccolante) Childs, her husband Casey, and their children Caroline and Mason of Maryland, and Sarah Zoccolante of Charlestown; brothers Frank C. Dunlap Jr. of Plymouth, and James Dunlap of Texas; sisters-in-law, Barbara (Boutin) Richmond of Plymouth, and Joyce (Boutin) Fisk and her husband Jim of Michigan; and many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be from 10-11:30 a.m. Friday, January 22, at Davis Funeral Home, 373 Court Street, Plymouth, with a funeral service at 11:30 a.m. and a reception to follow that afternoon.
