Francis Proctor Obituary

Francis Randolph Proctor Jr., (Frank), 83, of Framingham, died on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at home after an illness. Francis was born in Boston, the son of Francis Randolph and Josephine (Louden) Proctor. He was raised in Boston and graduated from English High School. He attended Huntington Preparatory School, then Boston College undergraduate and graduate schools, earning an MSW degree in 1956. After two years in the Army where he worked as a social worker at Letterman Army Hospital in San Francisco, he worked at Waltham Family Service for 4 yrs., then at N.H. Childrens Aid Society in Manchester, N. H.; returning to Family Service in 1963. In 1966, he started working as an adjustment counselor for Brookline public schools; encouraging and supporting the development of elementary school children for 29 years and high school students for two. He retired in 1997. Francis was a notable indoor track runner in high school and college. He continued to enjoy track and field events, including those he saw from stadium seats at the 1976 Olympics in Montreal. Beloved husband of Janet E. (Truman) Proctor of Framingham; devoted father of Michael Proctor of Framingham; loving brother of Ann Proctor Gumbs of Sudbury. He is also survived by extended relatives in Maryland, Washington, D. C. and N.H. A funeral Mass will be held Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 9 a.m. at St. Bridget Parish, 830 Worcester Road (Rte. 9), Framingham. Burial at Forest Hills Cemetery in Boston will be private. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Duckett | J. S. Waterman & Sons Home of Memorial Tribute, 656 Boston Post Road, Sudbury.
