I can't tell you just how many times I've thought of Dr. Cabot over the years since I graduated from Pine Manor College. He was such a kind and gentle man, and a wise and passionate teacher and mentor. He was one of only a handful of people who have influenced my life and I truly cherish his memory. As others have said, it was a gift to have known him. My deepest condolences to his family and friends.

Fred was such a warm and delightful person! We will treasure the times we spent with him when we gathered for drinks and dinners. Liz, we felt so graciously welcomed to Weston by you and Fred and we could not have asked for more lovely neighbors. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this sad time. Fred touched us deeply and we will miss him.

Fred was an enormously positive presence on the Board of the Landmarks Orchestra. My conversations with him were always interesting, vital and substantive. We shared two alma maters, and many common interests. We are grateful for his many contributions, and will greatly miss his spark and his kind encouragement.

Fred was a quiet but very effective member of the Weston Forest and Trail Association Board of Trustees, a dedicated environmentalist and a very fine person. The Board of Trustees of the Weston Forest and Trail Association will miss his support and his counsel.

Fred was a faithful and important contributor to the Board of Trustees of the Boston Landmarks Orchestra--which plays summer concerts at the Hatch Shell on the Esplanade and at other venues in the city with our many civic and artistic partners. Wise, clever, endlessly interesting and devoted to the orchestra's mission, he retired from the Board last year. We miss him and wish his family well.

An old Vermont friend from way back when, I would like to say that Fred was the best of the best!! He was the jewel of all jewels, and a finer man I have never known. Be it tennis, biking, hiking, sailing he was always ready to go. Such a humble man!! His love of reading and writing were second to no one. One in a million, that was Fred. I will miss you forever, Fred

Dr. Cabot was a top-notch professor and an even better human being. I can think only of a handful of people whose influence changed the course of my life. Fred Cabot is one of them.

Fred was a dear friend and a wonderful mentor during my years in the Pine Manor English Department. One of my fondest memories is catching him in his office sketching. He never wanted anyone to see his work. Such a modest and talented man! I also cherish memories of our runs on the Pine Manor cross country trails talking about literature, students, and the beauty of our surroundings. My only negative memory is that he just wouldn't buy a new pair of running shoes until his toes were practically sticking out of the old ones. I forever hold the memory of this kind and gentle man in my heart.

In my role as director of alumnae relations at Pine Manor College, not a week goes by that an alumna doesn't ask me about Dr. Cabot or tell me how much they loved having him as a professor. He was an incredible, wise, passionate teacher and a generous and kind man that inspired so many. He and I served as Pine Manor trustees together, and I often looked to him for guidance and advice. It was a true gift to have known him. My deepest sympathies to his family and friends.
