Travis Nutting Obituary
Travis Bolton Nutting, 82, died peacefully on March 16, 2011 after a long illness He was the son of the late Shirley B. Nutting and Merrill C. Nutting and brother of the late Merrill C. Nutting, Jr. He is survived by his beloved wife, Marilyn, his sister,Mary Ellen Nutting of Waltham and sister-in-law Patricia Nutting Stone of Falmouth; niece Holly Nutting Perry and family; nephews, Stephen Nutting Stone and family. Merrill (Chip) Nutting Stone also of Falmouth as well as Patricia's Stone's extended family; Andrew Stone of West Roxbury, Susan Losordo of Falmouth, Kathy Lionni of Cataumet, Nancy Rafftery of Falmouth, Linda Burgess of Kingston, Patricia Colman of Kingston and William E. Stone Jr. of West Roxbury and their families. He is also survived by his cousins Cathy Nutting Moore of West Roxbury, Shirley Stoltz of Lexington and Deborah Stimpson of Falmouth. Travis attended the Newton Public Schools and was president of the Newton High School senior class of 1947. He graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1952 with a degree in Economics. He was the President of Blue Key Honor Society. A devoted sportsman Travis played Varsity baseball and football for Newton High School and University of New Hampshire. He also played for Canadian Baseball Minor League im Fredericksburg, New Brunswick, Canada. Travis was a member of baseball "300 Club and two-time recipient of Gemaine G. Glidden Bowl in 1993 and 2001. He was an avid golfer and member of Nehoiden Golf Club at Wellesley College and past president of men's group. Travis was a loyal Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. Travis served in the United States Army during the Korean War Kyushu, Japan as an Intelligence Analyst in Counter Intelligence Corp from 1952-1955. He played baseball on asian team during his time in Japan. He started his financial career with Hayden Stone and worked at Boston Stock Exchange and 35 years at Paine Webber., Inc. As an iInstitutional trader. He retired from UBS Financial Service in 1999. Travis was a member of the Wellesley Hills Congregational Church. Memorial Services will be held Sunday, March 27th, 3 pm at the Wellesley Congregational Church, 207 Washington St., Wellesley Hills, MA. Contributions may be made to W.H.C.C.
