April 3, 1955 - November 19, 2024
Lonny Hiatt, 69, Williston, ND, passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at Trinity Hospital, Minot, surrounded by his family after a courageous three-year battle with Metastatic Melanoma.
Lonny Duane Hiatt was born April 3, 1955, the son of Glen and Alice (Berginski) Hiatt, in Rolla, ND. He grew up in the Turtle Mountains, a place he always called home. He graduated from St. John High School in 1973. During and following high school, he worked for a farmer/rancher in the Rolla area for several years.
He married the love of his life, Elaine Wherley, on July 25, 1981. They were blessed with three children. Lonny worked in the oil field with Halliburton for 35 years. This work took the family to Tioga, Minot, and Williston. Following his work at Halliburton, he worked for the City of Williston for seven years until he retired in October 2023.
He lived for and loved his children and grandchildren with all his heart. He enjoyed golf, hunting, fishing, playing cards, jigsaw puzzles, visiting with everyone, and watching Wild Hockey.
His loving family includes wife of 43 years; children, Amber (Jeremy) Finch and their children, Mathew, Kaden, Chloe, and James, Minot, ND, Aaron, Williston, ND, and Ashley (Dustin) Zietz and their children, Zoey, Harper, Emma, and Charlee, Granville, ND; brothers, Randy (Tammy) Hiatt, Garrison, ND, Steve (Gail) Hiatt, Tucson, AZ, Brian Hiatt, St. John, ND; sister, Lorrie Hiatt, St. John, ND; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandchild, Grace Judith Finch.
Funeral: Monday, November 25, 2024, at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Minot.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
The service will be livestreamed for the public to view and can be accessed by going to the First Baptist Church website: www.fbcminot.org.

Lonny was a great guy, it was truly a blessing knowing him. I met Lonny at work, he worked for me at the city. They broke the mold with lonny. RIP my dear friend.
