Charles Reavis Obituary

REAVIS Charles George Reavis Jr., 76, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008. He was born Sept. 19, 1931, to Charles G. and Hattie Key Reavis. He graduated from Yadkinville High School, N.C. State University and served in the U.S. Army at Fort Benning, Ga. Charlie retired as senior vice president from Wachovia Bank and Trust Co. in 1989, having served as president and chairman of the board of Wachovia Mortgage Company and president of Wachovia Realty Investments. He also enjoyed serving on the faculty of the Graduate School of Banking of the South at Louisiana State University for over 20 years. He grew up a member of Center UMC in Yadkinville and later was a faithful member of Trinity UMC in Winston-Salem. There he served in many areas of church leadership and building teams. He was preceded in death by brothers Thad, Clyde and Gray; and sister Edna Dillinger. Surviving are his wife, Peggy Savage Reavis; sons Dan (Joy), David (Teresa) and Lee (Melanie); daughter Jody (Brian) Logan; and 10 grandchildren, John, Katie, Michael, Scott, Elizabeth, Sam, Max, Jack, Henry and Holly, all of whom he dearly loved. Also surviving are his sister, Evelyn Taylor Brann; sister-in-law, Marie Reavis; and 14 nieces and nephews. The memorial service will be conducted at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, at Trinity United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Lee Strange officiating. Visitation will follow in the Church Fellowship Hall. Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church or a charity of the donor' s choice. The family wishes to express special thanks to the many, many dear friends who have supported each of us through this long illness. A special thanks to Clea Winphrie, dear "brother" Julian Hill, Bermuda Commons and to Hospice.
