Of Colfax, Charles Reid Westmoreland, 87, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2025, at Forsyth Medical Center. A life-long resident of Guilford County, Reid was born on September 1, 1937, to Charlie and Lillie Westmoreland. Reid retired from RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company where he had worked for 38 years. He enjoyed all sports and was an avid fan of the Washington Redskins, New York Yankees, NASCAR racing (anything Ford!) and the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. His greatest enjoyment was in collecting and restoring cars. Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Catherine B. Westmoreland of the home; his daughter, Teresa W. Powell (Bob) of Colfax; two grandchildren, Emily P. Pinion (Matt) of Colfax, and Kevin R. Powell (Brittany) of Kernersville; and three great-granddaughters, Morgan Pinion, Caroline Pinion and Everleigh Powell.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2025, at Shady Grove Wesleyan Church Cemetery, 119 N. Bunker Hill Rd, Colfax, N.C. The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:45 p.m. in the church sanctuary prior to the graveside service. Memorials may be made to the Shady Grove Wesleyan Church Cemetery Fund, PO Box 98, Colfax, NC, 27235 or Sandy Ridge Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 2223 Sandy Ridge Road, High Point, NC, 27265.
