March 24, 1939 - August 8, 2022

WALNUT COVE - Donald Wade Nelson, 83, took his final ride on Monday morning, August 8, 2022, at his home.

Donald was born on March 24, 1939, in Stokes County to the late John W. and Ann Throckmorton Nelson. He was retired from the NC Dept. of Transportation and served his country proudly in the United States Army. Donald loved motorcycles and worked on them all of his life.

In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his 2 sisters, Sylvia Parsons and Helen Bolejack; and 2 brothers, Frank and Bill Nelson.

He is survived by his numerous nieces and nephews; great-nieces and -nephews; and his biker family.

A graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at the Nelson Family Cemetery, Walnut Cove, with Pastor Ricky Craig officiating.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, from 1- 3 p.m. at Burroughs Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 129 Veterans Drive, Pilot Mountain, NC 27041.

The family would like to wish a special thank you to his Busted Knuckle family, Jackie Bourne, Mt. Valley Hospice, Bailey and Jerri, and his special niece Kelsey Kennon for all of the care shown to Donald.
