My condolences to Jim's family. I often speak about Jim Jones's contribution to my ability to start the track team for women at App State by simply walking into his office and asking if I could do track on my off season from gymnastics in 1976-79. Not only did he welcome me warmly with a smile, he empowered me to find two other women who might be interested. I loved working out with the guys' track team and even competing if there were other women present at the meet. I went on to coach collegiate gymnastics and track & field....for that I am grateful to Mr. Jones who was the athletic director at the time and who could embrace opportunity and change with grace and respect for athletes who just wanted to participate and enjoy sport. Rest in Peace and thank you so much, Mr. Jones.

Many kudos to Jim! I was at ASTC in early '60s and saw his superb tennis teams play and win. Heard about him from classmates who had him for business/accounting classes. He laid a foundation for the strong nationally praised curriculum and success at passing the certification exams. What a Mountaineer and a man. I know all of you will miss him.
