James LACKEY Obituary

LACKEY KERNERSVILLE James "Bruce" Lackey Nov. 24, 1928 - Feb. 9, 2013 James "Bruce" Lackey, 84, went to meet his Lord and Saviour on February 9, 2013. He was born in Guilford Co. on November 24, 1928 to the late William Carl Lackey and Grace Lawson Lackey. Bruce loved his Lord and his family. He thrived on serving others and being in fellowship with his church community and family. As a member of his church, he served in many capacities; as usher, deacon, many committees and mission trips. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother, Gary Lackey. Survivors include his wife Margaret of 59 years, who resides in Kernersville; three daughters, Janet Smith (Rob) of Charlotte, Ellen High (Steve) of Kernersville, Regina Lambeth (Mike) of Winston-Salem; seven grandchildren, Ashley S. Wallace (John) of Chapel Hill, Brandon Smith of Oakland, CA, Emily H. Freedman (Andy) of Boston, Travis High of Washington D.C., Mallory L. Howard (Phil) of Fayetteville, Ryan Lambeth of Winston Salem, Trenton Lambeth of Winston-Salem; two great-grandchildren, Jack and Olivia Wallace; one brother, Edwin Lackey of CA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Conrad Memorial Baptist Church in High Point with Rev. Marcus Campbell and Rev. Bob Hiatt officiating. Interment will follow in Union Cross Moravian Church Graveyard in Kernersville. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Monday, February 11, 2013, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorial may be sent to Conrad Memorial Baptist Church, 1920 N. Centennial Street, High Point, NC 27262 or Elizabeth and Tab Williams Adult Day Center; 231 Melrose Street, Winston-Salem NC 27103. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com

So sorry to see The death of Bruce. I didn' know him well ,But I did know Carl and Grace. Carl was a cousin on my dad's side of the family. I worked at Tomlinson of HP while Carl was there. He hauled dirt fo me when my wife and I lived in HP. We visited them at their home on eastchester before their deat. We also visited Conrad Baptist ch. My dad was Branscomb Young from Danbury.
