Samuel Ferguson Obituary

Samuel Ferguson

October 28, 1949 - May 17, 2025

Sam Ferguson, 75, of Lewisville passed away on May 17.

He was born in Pensacola, FL, the son of Samuel and Jane Ferguson. A Navy brat, he lived in Hawaii, Morocco and northern VA before settling in NC. Sam is a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and a proud graduate of Belmont Abbey College where he met the love of his life, Mary Dvorscak. They were married for nearly 52 years.

Sam is survived by his daughters Anne and Shannon, son Patrick (Amanda), grandson Colin, brother John and other extended family.

A member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus he was grateful for his church family. Sam loved his family, playing baseball and going for bagels every morning with Mary.

Thank you to the supportive staff of Novant Health Cancer Center, Trellis Supportive Care and Drs. Jacks and Reardon.

Visitation will be at Twin City Cremations on May 21 from 6-8pm with a funeral mass May 22 at 11am at Holy Family Catholic Church in Clemmons.

In lieu of flowers donations to Trellis Supportive Care of Winston-Salem would be appreciated.

Mary, I just saw the obituary and am so sorry to hear Sam passed. He worked in our department at what is now Hanes Brands. He was a joy to work with, always smiling, and always spoke highly of you and the family. He was a good man. My deepest condolences, and prayers for you and your family.

The photo above typifies the kind of person Sam was. He was always so funny and I would always search him out at any K of C events because I knew a good time would definitely be had. He was one of my father's best friends for nearly 40 years. I also considered him a friend of mine as well. RIP Sam!

That photo says it all. One of the funniest, happy go lucky guys we ever knew. We met Mary and Sam shortly after moving to Winston-Salem and they made us feel right at home always. That was 40 years ago and time has flown by. We had so much fun together watching our children grow up, softball games, activities with the knights, and everything friends do. We moved away and yet Sam and Mary were always there anytime a family celebration or get together was required with our dear friends. Mary, Ann, Patrick, and Shannon, Sam left behind a wonderful legacy of humor, kindness, and love for us all. Rest in peace sweet friend!
