Sarah Kennelly Obituary

KENNELLY CHARLOTTE - Sarah "Lynn" Kennelly, 50, died September 21, 2009, from metasta- tic breast cancer. She is survived by her parents, Jim and Eleanor Glenn Kennelly; her loyal friend and pet "Buca,"; numerous aunts and cousins; and a host of loving friends. Known for her quick wit, abundance of love and generous spirit, Lynn treasured her relationships with her family, friends and co-workers. Her passions included food, wine, travel, dancing, nature, sunsets and full moons. Lynn credited her friends when she said "because of my friends, I am who I am." She was a 1977 graduate of R.J. Reynolds High School in Winston-Salem, and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1981, where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She was a well-respected executive in patient communication systems for industry leaders Executone, Dukane, GE and Hill-Rom, where she was VP of Sales Channel and Consulting. Throughout her life, Lynn was involved with and committed to many civic and volunteer organizations. Lynn and her family offer special thanks to Dr. David Miller, Dr. Kent Holtzmuller, Dr. Robert Frazier, acupuncturist, Amy Rhodes, Kevin Davis, MSW, Amy Sloop and the entire care team of Hospice at Charlotte. Friends are invited to gather at Carpe Diem Restaurant on Sunday, September 27 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. to share a farewell toast to "good friends, good lives, good loves and great laughter." The restaurant is located at 1535 Elizabeth Avenue in Charlotte. In lieu of flowers, Lynn would be honored if friends would send memorials to Hospice at Charlotte, 1420 East Seventh Street, Charlotte, NC 28204. Arrangements are in the care of Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service. Please share condolences online at www.hankinswhittington.com

Lynn taught be that love comes in many forms and depths. She taught and showed me how to trust and be trustworthy. And the greatest lesson of all that I learned from Lynn was forgiveness. She was a treasure to me and some many other people in her life. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. She will be in my heart and mind forever.

I was very lucky to have known Lynn while in College. After all of these years, I can still remember her amazing gift for entering a room and making it sparkle. She was so incredibly witty, bright and fun to be around. She will be truly missed.

Dear Uncle Jimmy & Aunt Eleanor. I wish I would have known my cousin better. The distance kept us apart but I do remember visiting with her when we were young. I'm so very sorry for your loss. You are in my thoughts and prayers and I love you both dearly!
Love,
Belle Ann (Cleveland Ohio)

I met Lynn at Chapel Hill and we have a very close friend in common. When we were young girls, just out of college, a bunch of us went to see Diana Ross at the old Charlotte Coliseium and afterwards went back to their apartment to dance and sing to all of Diana's old records. Those were good times. It is a terrible shame that her life was cut short by cancer. Her bravery and tremendous sense of humor will be missed by all that had the good fortune to know her. Let's renew our commitment to find a cure to this dreadful disease.

Lynn's spirit was infectious and she handled this difficulty with her usual grace, kindness and courage. I took yoga beside her for years, and did not know until a year ago her battle. Remarkably she was often the strongest athlete in the room as well as the most serene and concious yogi. My deep sympathy to her family and her many other friends on our loss.

We didn't know Lynn very well but she made a big impact. We had the pleasure of meeting her through some mutual friends but most often saw her walking in the neighborhood. She would walk by our house with her dog and walked with gusto. She had a great smile and seemed to never meet a stranger. It always made us happy to see her coming. Plaza Midwood will not be the same without her.
