Virginia Sue Blakely, 69, died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004, in Winston-Salem. She was raised in Coronado, Calif., and graduated from Coronado High School in 1953. She attended San Diego State University and graduated from Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla. Virginia worked for the Girl Scouts of America in Asheville and for Hospice of Winston-Salem as volunteer coordinator. She also served on the board of directors and volunteered for Human Service Alliance in Winston-Salem for 19 years. Virginia was predeceased by her parents, John and Ruth Blakely of Coronado and San Diego, Calif.; and her grandparents, Vice Admiral and Mrs. Charles Blakely of Coronado. Virginia is survived by her children, John Christensen of Jacksonville, Ore., Susan Gollnick of Paso Robles, Calif., and Lisa Christensen of La Verne, Calif.
