JOHNSON Kernersville Walter J. Johnson, Jr. October 10, 2012 Walter J. "WJ" Johnson, Jr., 93, died October 10, 2012. Funeral Services to celebrate his life will be held 10:00AM Friday October 12, 2012 at Main Street United Methodist Church with Pastor Dr. Jeff Patterson, Rev. Dale Hilton, and Rev. Rick Carter officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. A native of Forsyth County, he was the son of the late Georgia Lizabeth Kivett and Walter J Johnson, Sr. He graduated from Kernersville High School and later attended Mars Hill College. He served his Country during WWII with the US Army. He was a longtime member of Main Street United Methodist Church and served on various committees of the church, and also taught Sunday School. He had been a member of the Kernersville Lions Club for 65 years and also served as President of the club. He owned and managed the Kernersville Western Auto store for 42 years. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Mary Dell Fales Johnson, who died in January of 2012. Survivors include his daughters Genny Frazier and Jim of Advance, and Suzanne Tedder and Russ of Kernersville; sons Rob Johnson and Beth, and Walt Johnson and Linda all of Kernersville; grandchildren Sara Tedder Boehm and Brian, Katie Tedder, Anna Johnson and fianc‚ Preston, Michael Johnson, Mary Beth Johnson, Max Johnson, and Sean Johnson. The family will visit with friends from 6-8PM Thursday evening at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Home.
