William Ernest "Bill" Doub Jr.

MIDWAY - Mr. William Ernest "Bill" Doub Jr., 79, of the Midway Community died Sunday morning March 6, 2005, at his home. He was born Jan. 9, 1926, in Forsyth County, to William Ernest and Alice Allgood Doub. Bill believed in the Lord and was of the Methodist Faith. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, attaining the rank of Corporal. Bill retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. with more than 30 years of service. He was well known in the American Saddlebred Horse Association. In 2003, Bill was inducted into the United Professional Horseman's Association Hall of Fame in Raleigh for his contribution to the horse-show industry. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lethia Hedgecock Doub; his parents; and two brothers, Edwin and John Henry Doub. Surviving are a son, Gary Doub and wife, Judy, of Winston-Salem; a daughter, Patricia Ann Doub of Duluth, Ga.; two grandchildren, Kevin Doub and wife, Jessica, of Decatur, Ill., and Wesley Doub and wife, Rebecca, of Winston-Salem; two great-grandchildren, Nathan and Chloe Doub; a brother, Eugene M. Doub of Winston-Salem; four sisters, Martha Doub Griffin of Jacksonville, Fla., Flora Doub Burnette of Wilmington, Grace Doub Cromwell of Mobile, Ala., and Nancy Doub Poolos of Winston-Salem; and a special friend, Frances Chaney. A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. today, March 9, in Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel by the Rev. David Calhoun. Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park.
