COLUMBUS - Lucy O. Weiner, age 87, of Columbus, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, November 18, 2023 following a brief illness.
She was born to Edwin and Helen (Schuch) Schmitt in Columbus on November 20, 1935. She married Roger Weiner on October 22, 1955. She farmed with her husband Roger for many years and retired from Enerpac.
Lucy was a member of St. Columbkille Catholic Church for over 60 years. She loved watching Badgers, Bucks, Packers, and Brewers.
She had many hobbies, baking, gardening, playing cards, quilting, travel, and crocheting. Special holiday traditions, with family and extended family, were dear to her and will be continued in her honor.
She served the community as a volunteer at Prairie Ridge Health and as an Election Poll Worker. She was a member of Homemaker's Club, Investment Club, and St. Columbkille Altar Society where she made life-long friends.
Lucy dearly loved her husband, Roger; they celebrated 65 years of marriage in 2020. Together they raised five children: Debbie Weiner, Diane (Dan) Hayden, Lisa, Laurie (Gary) Laubenheimer and Dennis (Diane) Weiner; she is survived by six grandchildren: Chris Hayden (Elaina Barni), David (Kaileigh) Hayden, Eric (Madison) Laubenheimer, Adam (Alexus) Laubenheimer, and Austin and Blake Weiner; and one great-granddaughter, Willa Laubenheimer.
Lucy is also survived by brothers: Dave (Cathy) Schmitt and Jim (Jackie) Schmitt; sisters: Judy (Tom) Kotche and Barbara (late Michael) Durst. She is also survived by many dear members of the extended Weiner family, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and many cherished friendships.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger; her parents; sister, Ruth Schmitt; parents-in-law, Raymond and Emma Weiner.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM with a visitation beginning at 9:00 AM on Monday, November 27, 2023 at St. Columbkille Catholic Church, Columbus, WI. Rev. Will Arnold will officiate. Interment will be at St. Columbkille Cemetery.
