Frances L. Yeomans

Forestport /Dunnellon Fl.- Frances L. (Green) Yeomans, 97, widow of Philip, passed away while under the care of Hospice, at the Abraham House of Rome, on Monday, September 9, 2024. Frances was born in Springfield, Missouri on April 14, 1927, a daughter of Stephen and Alta Clutter Green. She grew up in Springfield, where she graduated from high school, before attending Southwest Missouri State College, Springfield. Frances later moved to Utica, NY, and was employed at Hotel Utica, where she met her future husband, Philip C. Yeomans. The couple were married in Albany on December 31, 1949. Mrs. Yeomans was employed by Bendix Aviation, Utica and she and Philip later operated a corner grocery store for several years. In 1967, the couple relocated to Forestport, where they had built a camp on O'Brien Road, ten years prior. For a time, Frances was employed at Geary's General Store, Woodhull St., Forestport. The couple later built and operated Forest Food Stop Store on O'Brien Road, Forestport. Mr. Yeomans passed away on November 30, 1985 and Frances later retired from the grocery store business. In 1993 Mrs. Yeomans began spending winters in Dunnellon, FL and summers near Forestport. For many years, Frances was active in the Forestport Presbyterian Church, serving on the building committee for construction of the Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall, Woodhull St., Forestport. Frances is survived by one daughter, Linda J., Forestport/Dunnellon, FL, with whom Frances resided; her niece, Virginia "Poo" Frances Yeomans; several nieces, grandnieces and grandnephews; a good friend, and neighbor, Nicole Lucas and her faithful canine companion, "Munchie."
