Marcia Kay Porter

Marcia Kay (Redding) Porter, 72, passed away peacefully at home on July 8, 2025, after a prolonged illness, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on January 1, 1953, in Lafayette, Indiana to Velma Jean (Mennen) Redding and Willard Howard Redding, Marcia grew up in a big family where she learned to be a great cook and became skilled at fixing all things. Marcia is survived by her daughters, Julie (Brian) Smith and Cindy (Jeff) Cockerill; three beloved grandchildren, Max and Katie Cockerill and Josie Smith; and her siblings, Donna (Roger) Bumgardner, Janet (Mark) Alexander, David (Libby) Redding, and Melissa (Todd) Kough. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Carol (Redding) Kallner. Marcia spent much of her professional life working in the Trust Department at The Farmers Bank, where she took great pride in caring for the clients she served. Her thoughtful attention to detail and sincere compassion made a lasting impact on the lives of many. A uniquely left-handed redhead with lovely blue eyes, Marcia was a proud mother and grandmother. Her dedication to her family was the heart of her life. She did her best every day to care and provide for her loved ones. Marcia will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who knew and loved her. A celebration of Marcia's life will be held at a later date. Details will be shared with family and friends when available. In remembrance of Marcia's life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to Tricia's Hope (www.triciashope.org), a local organization that touched her life and provides support for those in cancer treatment.
