Janet Rose Benson Sowders, age 88, of Highland County, Ohio, passed away Friday,March 10, 2023 at her home with her family by her bedside.
She was born February 23, 1935 in Cincinnati, OH, daughter of the late Gilbert James and Evelyn Josephine (Koester) Benson.
Janet was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and a friend to all who knew her.
Surviving is her husband, Lawrence F. "Larry" Sowders, whom she married April 14, 1956, 8 children, Lawrence M. Sowders, Daniel (Dorothy) Sowders, Evelyn West, Alice (Derek) Watson, Janet (Bruce) Morris, Suzanne "Sam" Henson, Gloria (Glenn) Geck, Mark Sowders and special friends, Candy Fisher, Susie Deatley, and Dee Shelton. Also surviving are 38 Grandchildren, 46 Great Grandchildren, her siblings Betty (Jim) Burk, Rich (Karen) Benson, Bob (Kathy) Benson, Carol Benson, brother-in-law, Denny Feldmann, numerous nieces & nephews.
In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Gloria Fahey and Peggy Feldmann; 2 brothers, Gilbert Benson and Roger Benson, and a son-in-law, Mark Henson.
A Memorial service for family and close friends will be held at St. Benignus Catholic Church, 204 S. 2nd St. Greenfield, Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 12:00 pm with Rev. Mike Paraniuk officiating. Interment will follow in the Hightop Cemetery, Samantha, Ohio. Please join us in a Celebration of Life at Creekview Barn beginning at 2:00 p.m.
