Arthur Messier Obituary

PAWTUCKET - Arthur J. Messier, Jr., 77, passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2016. He was the beloved husband of Nancy J. (LaFountaine) Messier for 53 years. Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Arthur J., Sr. and Rose (Lague) Messier.
Arthur graduated in 1958 from Tolman High School, where he was class president and held the city scoring title for football. He worked as a custodian in the Pawtucket School Department for over 15 years until his retirement. Arthur was a life member of the LeFoyer Club, Pawtucket, and enjoyed bowling and playing golf, even making a hole-in-one at the Swansea Country Club. He was a member of both, the Sons of Italy and St. Leo's Golf Leagues. Arthur also enjoyed playing horse shoes and spending time with his family and friends. He will always be remembered by all for his great sense of humor and very generous ways.
Besides his loving wife, he leaves a son, Mark A. Messier and his wife, Alicia of Pawtucket; two grandsons, Matthew and Damien Messier and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Lucille Humes.
His funeral will be held on Saturday at 9 a.m. from WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Teresa Church, 358 Newport Ave. Interment will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery. VISITATION will be Friday 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to either St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148 or the Pawtucket Animal Shelter, C/O Pawtucket Police Dept., 121 Roosevelt Ave., Pawtucket, RI 02860 will be appreciated. TRIPPFUNERALHOME.com
