Arthur J. Tonelli

1930 - 2015

BELLINGHAM, MA - Arthur J. Tonelli, 85, of Bellingham, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 30, 2015 at the Lydia Taft House, Uxbridge, MA with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of the late Joan E. (Meagher) Tonelli. Born in Ashland, MA on September 17, 1930, he was the son of the late Arthur and Mary (Calamelli) Tonelli. He was the loving father of John J. Tonelli and his wife, Maureen of Taunton, MA and Arthur E. "Ted" Tonelli and his wife, Linda of Uxbridge, MA; and his cherished five grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Vito and Enes Tonelli.
A longtime resident of Bellingham and then a short time at Draper Place in Hopedale, he was raised in Ashland and graduate of Ashland High School, and Northeastern University where he was a professor.
Mr. Tonelli worked at Northrop Grumman Corporation in Walpole for many years as a systems analyst and programmer until retiring.
Mr. Tonelli was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Korean War attaining the rank of Specialist-3 Infantry.
He was a communicant of St. Brendan's Church of Bellingham. He was an avid sports fan and attended his grandchildren's games. His greatest joy was his family and cherished grandchildren, and will be greatly missed.
Funeral will be held on Thursday, November 5th at 9:00AM from CARTIER'S FUNERAL HOME, 151 So. Main St. (Rte 126), Bellingham, MA with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM at St. Brendan's Church, 384 Hartford Ave., Bellingham. Interment will follow at St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham. Visiting hours are on Wednesday, November 4th from 5 to 8PM at the funeral home.
