Clare E. Smith

Clare E. (Brady) Smith, 83, of Woonsocket, died peacefully after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease on April 4, 2015 in Oakland Grove Health Care Center, Woonsocket. She was the wife of the late William J. Smith, Jr. Born in Uxbridge, MA, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Barry) Brady.
A 1947 graduate of St. Mary's High School, Milford, MA, Mrs. Smith was a homemaker, was a member of the Globe Park PTA, loved to dance, was passionate about singing and enjoyed listening to the radio, especially talk shows. Clare was fortunate to have been a participant of Woonsocket Senior Services Adult Day Care and was a well cared for and loved resident of Oakland Grove Healthcare Center, Woonsocket.
She is survived by two sons; William J. Smith, III and his wife of Darlene of Richlands, NC and Peter Smith and his wife Tracey of Woonsocket, four daughters; Jessica Desrochers, Mary Jane Smith and Geraldine "Dina" Renaud and Christine Goulet all of Woonsocket. Clare is also survived by her dear sister Alice Creighton, and her husband Morgan Creighton of Uxbridge, MA, seventeen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Jane Margaret Smith and sister of the late Thomas Brady, Catherine Brady, Margaret Smith and Ann McLean.
Her funeral will be held Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 9 AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Charles Church, 190 North Main St., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, West Wrentham Rd., Cumberland. Calling hours are Wednesday from 5 - 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Woonsocket Senior Center Activities Fund, 84 Social St., Woonsocket, RI 02895.
