Clovis Desmarais Obituary
Born in Bellingham, he was a son of the late Clovis J. Desmarais, and Anastasie C. (Bernier) Desmarais. He was raised in Bellingham and was a resident of Woonsocket for most of his life.
Clovis attended Assumption Prep. for two years, then graduated from Mt. St. Charles Academy and was the valedictorian for the Class of 1955. He served with the U.S. Naval Reserve from 1954 to 1962.
He was employed at Florence Dye in Woonsocket and then worked for Tupperware Corp for many years until retiring.
Clovis enjoyed collecting and displaying model trains. He was a well-versed history buff and appreciated a variety of music particularly classical and Gregorian chant.
Clovis was a loving and hard-working family man. A consummate gentleman, he was especially proud of his grandsons.
He is survived by two sons Paul N. Desmarais and his wife, Jennifer, of Attleboro and David E. Desmarais of Woonsocket and daughter Denise I. Kowalewski and her husband, Gary, of Hope Valley. Three grandsons Joshua, Joel and Quintin Desmarais. He was the brother of Arthur Desmarais of Woonsocket, Jean Desmarais of Alabama, Sr. Pauline Desmarais (Sr. Marie Claire) P.M. of Methuen, Mass. and the late Albert Desmarais. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in Precious Blood Church, Carrington Ave., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham. Visiting hours are Tuesday morning from 9-10 a.m., prior to Mass, in the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave., Woonsocket. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Kidney Fund, 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300 Rockville, MD, 20852; Attn: RI & MA Regional Safety Net Program or to Home & Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main St. Providence, RI, 02904.
