Donald J. "Dan" Ranieri

1930 - 2017

BELLINGHAM - Donald J. "Dan" Ranieri, 87, of Bellingham, MA passed away peacefully on Monday, June 12, 2017 at Milford Regional Medical Center with his loving family by his side after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was the beloved husband of the late Eleanor L. (Shurick) Ranieri for 61 years. Born in Franklin, MA on March 17, 1930, he was the son of the late Joseph and Adeline (DiCamillo) Ranieri. He was the loving father of Cheryl A. Boucher and her husband Gary, former State Representative Daniel J. Ranieri and his wife Suzanne, Retired Bellingham Fire Chief Richard F. Ranieri and his wife Linda all of Bellingham, Robert A. Ranieri and his wife Joann of Cumberland, RI, Thomas M. Ranieri and his wife Gail of Woonsocket, Bellingham Police Lieutenant Kevin W. Ranieri and his wife Mary Beth of Bellingham. He also leaves his 16 cherished grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Peter R. Ranieri and his late wife Teresa, and brother-in-law of Kathleen Craven of No. Smithfield, RI, and Romeo Godin and his late wife, Frances of Foxboro, MA.
A resident of Bellingham since 1955, he was raised in Franklin and graduate of Franklin High School Class of 1947 and played baseball and football at Franklin High School. Mr. Ranieri worked as a salesman for Quality Beverage for most of his working career until retiring in 1994, AKA "The Budman". He served as an Auxiliary Police Officer in Franklin.
He was a communicant of the former Assumption Church and was active in fundraising for Assumption Church. He was a communicant of St. Blaise Church. Mr. Ranieri was a coach for the Bellingham Little League from 1950 - 1960's. Mr. Ranieri was a former member of the Blackstone Lions Club. He was an avid card player, golfer, and member of the neighborhood quoit league for over 50 years. He enjoyed traveling and enjoyed their home at Cape Cod. He loved his family and friends, and will be greatly missed by all. Mr. Ranieri's family want to thank his home health care givers.
Funeral will be held on Tuesday, June 20th at 9:00AM from CARTIER'S FUNERAL HOME, 151 So. Main St. (Rte 126), Bellingham, MA with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM at St. Blaise Church, 1158 So. Main St., Bellingham. Interment will follow at St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham. Visiting hours are on Monday, June 19th from 4PM to 8PM at the funeral home. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Blaise Church or the Bellingham Senior Center, or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
