Elda M. Petrowicz

1926 - 2016

UXBRIDGE - Elda M. (Pandolfi) Petrowicz, 89, passed away on Tues. July 12, 2016 in Milford Hospital after an illness. She was predeceased by her husband of 35 years John Petrowicz in1984. She is survived by her daughter Susan Petrowicz with whom she lived; her sister Norma Bartolucci of Manville, RI; a brother Roland Pandolfi of Oberlin, OH; her daughter-in-law Sharon Petrowicz of Uxbridge; 2 grandchildren, Marc Petrowicz and his wife Meredith of Warwick, RI and Sara Kent and her husband Jason of Roanoke, VA; 4 great grandchildren, Evan, Brynn, Caelyn, and Lucas, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son John A. Petrowicz in 2014; 2 brothers John Pandolfi and Nedo Pandolfi. Born in Manville, RI on Sept. 20, 1926 she was the daughter of John and Teresa (Vagnini) Pandolfi and lived in Uxbridge over 55 years. Elda began her career with Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. as an office clerk at age 17. She worked for 43 years until her retirement in 1986 as the Branch Administrator for the Pawtucket District Office.
Elda enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events (baseball, basketball, and soccer) both locally and across the country. She became an avid sports fan and loved the WNBA and UCONN women's basketball. She also enjoyed crosswords and loved cooking for her family. In her retirement, Elda volunteered in the office at Lydia Taft House in Uxbridge and at the former Milford VNA Hospice in Whitinsville. She was a member of St Mary's Parish and served on their bereavement ministry.
Her funeral will be held on Mon. July 18 from Tancrell-Jackman Funeral Home, 35 Snowling Rd., Uxbridge with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 71 Mendon St. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be held on Sun. July 17 from 1 pm - 3 pm.
