Elio J. "Al" Simonini

1929 - 2016

BLACKSTONE - Elio J. "Al" Simonini, 87, of Blackstone, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016 at Oakland Grove Health Center.

He is the beloved husband for 37 years of Diana L. (Peloquin) Simonini.

Born in Woonsocket, on Aug. 1, 1929, he is the son of the late Pietro and Gioconda (Cheli) Simonini. He is the loving father of John Simonini and his wife, Lillian, of New Baltimore, Mich.; James Simonini and his wife, Jeanette, of Uxbridge; Rodney Simonini of Cumberland; and Marc Youngsma of Sabattus, Maine.

He leaves his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is the brother of Rita Archambault, of Uxbridge; Esther Jalbert and her husband, Henry, of Cumberland; and the late Mario Simonini.

A resident of Blackstone for 11 years, formerly of Bellingham and Woonsocket, he attended Woonsocket High School. Al worked as a foreman for Staffall Industries in Cranston, R.I. until retiring in 2008, and previously was a supervisor at EMC Electronic Molding in Woonsocket and Guard Manufacturing.

He was a United States Air Force Veteran.

Al was a communicant of St. Augustine Church in Millville. He was a member of the Smoky Squares Square Dancing Club. He enjoyed hunting, gardening and wine making. Devoted to his family, Al will be greatly missed.

Funeral will be held on Friday, Oct. 14 at 9 a.m. from CARTIER'S FUNERAL HOME, 151 So. Main St. (Rte 126), Bellingham, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine Church, 17 Lincoln St., Millville. Interment will follow at St. Charles Cemetery, Farm St., Blackstone. Visiting hours are on Thursday, Oct. 13 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
