When I was in high school I worked for Frank at the hardware store. He was a good man to work for and gave me time off for football and track.
I learned many years later that he had won the Silver Star on D-Day. Men of his generation, like my own father, were very quiet about such honors.

I was a customer at the hardware store for many years. Could always count on a friendly greeting and excellent advice from Frank. He would patiently listen to my dilemma and help to solve it. RIP, Frank
