George Leduc Obituary

UXBRIDGE - George E. Leduc, 91, of Uxbridge, MA passed away peacefully at home on Monday, October 5, 2015 with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of the late Jeannette R. (Desplaine) Leduc. Born in Woonsocket, RI on August 8, 1924, he was the son of the late Adolphe and Dora (Ledoux) Leduc. He was the loving father of George R. Leduc and his wife, Marie of Haysville, NC, Suzanne G. Dauphin and her husband, Richard of Uxbridge, MA, Arthur R. Leduc and his wife, Patricia of Uxbridge, MA, and Dennis J. Leduc of Milford, MA. He leaves his cherished 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Jean Leduc, Rene Leduc and Germaine Allard.
Mr. Leduc was a resident of Uxbridge formerly of Bellingham for over 50 years at Lake Hiawatha. He worked for many years at Shagnon Flooring in Woonsocket and Duke's Flooring in Bellingham. After retiring, he worked together with his wife at Sears Outlet in Milford and Putnam Investments in Franklin.
He was a United States Army World War II Veteran Technician Fifth Grade with Service Company 399th Infantry Regiment. He served overseas in the European Theatre of Operations for 21 months where he operated and maintained heavy Army vehicles. He participated in four major campaigns, Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He received the Good Conduct Medal, the American Theater Campaign Ribbon, the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon and the Victory Medal. He was a member of the VFW Post 7272 of Bellingham, the American Legion Post 532 of Haysville, NC and the Massachusetts DAV.
He enjoyed camping and campfires at Lake Manchaug, traveling, taking cruises, playing cards and visiting casinos. He was a devoted Red Sox fan. His greatest joy was his loving wife and family, he will be greatly missed.
Funeral will be held on Saturday, October 10th at 8:30AM from CARTIER'S FUNERAL HOME, 151 So. Main St. (Rte 126), Bellingham, MA with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM at St. Blaise Church, 1158 So. Main St. Bellingham. Interment will follow at St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham. Visiting time from 8:30 to 9:30AM at the funeral home prior to mass. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Operation Comfort Warriers, the American Legion 5745 Lee Rd. Indianapolis, Indiana 46216.
