John McConnell Obituary

CUMBERLAND - John T. McConnell, 92, of Cumberland passed away Thursday surrounded by his loving family at Hope Hospice and Palliative Care in Providence. He was the husband of Jean (Millette) McConnell.
Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Jonathan and Catherine May (Day) McConnell. He resided in Cumberland for over 60 years.
Mr. McConnell was a United States Navy, WWII Veteran.
He was a communicant of St. Aidan Church. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Knights of Columbus, United States Veterans Council of RI, and a member of the American Defenders of Bataan and Corregidor. He enjoyed walks on the Monastery Grounds in Cumberland and loved dogs.
He leaves two daughters, Judith Ann McConnell and Charleen Primo, both of Cumberland; his two grandchildren, Steven Primo of Providence and Julie May of Texas. He was the brother of the late Henry McConnell.
A celebration of his life will be held Tuesday at 9 AM from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in the St. Aidan Church, Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland. Burial with Military Honors will be held at Mt. St. Mary Cemetery. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting Hours will be held Monday from 4 to 7 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Hope Hospice and Palliative Care, 1085 North Main Street Providence, RI 02904.
