Joseph F. Stevens

BLACKSTONE - Joseph F. Stevens, 90, of Blackstone, MA passed away at home on Monday, December 5, 2022. He is the beloved husband of Jeannine D. (Brissette) Stevens married for 68 years. He is the loving father of Gail M. Dean and her husband Robert of North Smithfield, RI, Donna M. Hagan and her late husband Paul of Harrisville, RI they formerly resided in Forestdale, RI, James J. Stevens of Blackstone, MA and Thomas A. Stevens and his wife Denise of Cumberland, RI. He leaves his cherished grandchildren David Dean, Christopher Dean and his wife Brianna, Lisa Dean, Stephanie Arpin and her husband Brad, Kimberly Hagan and Jon Rotatori, Tyler Stevens, and great-grandchildren Kyle Dean, Dylan Dean, Stella Dean, Samuel Dean, Cole Arpin, Will Arpin and Leon Rotatori.

He was born in Woonsocket, RI on September 8, 1932, the son of the late George and Catherine (Jackman) Stevens. He is the brother of the late George Stevens and Mary McKitchen. He leaves many nieces and nephews.

Joe was a longtime resident of Blackstone formerly of Woonsocket. He was a graduate of Woonsocket High School Class of 1948. Joe worked as a manager for Motorola for many years until retiring in 1991.

He was a United States Navy Korean War Veteran serving from 1952 - 1956. He was a Hospital Corpsman 3RD Class Petty Officer and received the National Defense Service Medal.

Joe loved all the New England Sports Teams. He played baseball for W.H.S. and P&Q Clothing Store Team. He managed the Field of Dreams Senior League, Hilltop Farms Team at Cole Spring Park for many years and they won three championships.

Joe was given the nickname of "Fuji" by his oldest grandson David and over the years most knew him by that name. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and family, and bowling at Walnut Hill Bowl. He will be greatly missed.

Funeral will be held on Thursday, December 15th with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM at Divine Mercy Church, 48 St. Paul Street, Blackstone, MA. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland, RI. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Joseph F. Stevens may be made to the Bradley Hospital Foundation, 1011 Veterans Memorial Parkway, East Providence, RI 02915 would be appreciated.
