Joseph "Danny" White

BURRILLVILLE - Joseph "Danny" White, 83, passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2022, at home in Pascoag, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Teresa (Wellington) White, whom he married November 19, 1960. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Joseph M. and Kathleen (O'Leary) White.

Danny was a Navy veteran, retiring from the US Navy after serving his country for 28 years and attaining the rank of Sr. Chief. He spent many years in the Navy traveling to numerous countries, including being stationed in Antarctica for 12 months. He was assigned to many ships before spending years aboard nuclear submarines. He retired in 1985, with his retirement ceremony being held on the USS Constitution, the oldest Naval Warship in the world.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. One of his favorite times was his annual trip to Saratoga, NY where he enjoyed playing the horses and visiting Lake George. Danny was renowned for his many funny stories related to his extensive travels and his quick wit.

In addition to his loving wife, Teresa, he is survived by three sons: Michael White of Pascoag, David White of Kingston, MA and Steven White of Harrisville; two daughters: Elizabeth White of Virginia Beach, VA and Colleen White of Pascoag; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren and a sister, Joanne Crabtree of Rockville, CT.

Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial for Danny on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at 10 AM in St. Joseph's Church, 183 Sayles Ave., Pascoag. His burial with Military Honors in the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery will be private.
