Marcia Jane Rust

Marica Jane (Smith) Rust of died Monday, October 10, 2022, in Concord, NH.
Marcia Jane Smith Rust was born on June 13, 1934 in Woonsocket RI to Chester and Martha Mowry Smith
She graduated from Woonsocket high school in 1952 going on to Rhode Island College to pursue a degree in education. She met a handsome college hockey player named Tom Rust and with the support of her family dropped out of college to get married in1955, intending to continue her education at a later date.
Over the course of their marriage Marcia and Tom lived in 8 states, and after retirement they travelled in an RV to almost all of the rest. Marcia did complete her education, eventually achieving a master's degree in Mathematics and she taught math from the 7th grade through college levels.
Marcia was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She took great pride in her children and becoming a grandmother and great grandmother brought her incredible joy.
Marcia was particular in who she chose as a friend, she made one good friend at almost every place they lived and those few select friends she still holds dear.
She loved all animals but had a particular fondness for cats. She always had a least one cat in the house and even traveled with her cats in the RV.
She played the piano and took pleasure singing with her children and grandchildren. She developed a passion for painting landscapes midway in her life and generously distributed her paintings to her children.
During her travels with Tom, they visited may national and state parks, where they hiked and admired the natural wonders surrounding them.
Marcia enjoyed watching sports especially baseball and football. In spite of moving to many states she remained loyal to the New England teams.
Marcia was predeceased by her husband Tom, her father and mother, Chester and Martha Smith, her sister Nancy Ash and brother Stuart Smith. She is survived by her sister Janice Milliken, her children Stephen (Elaine)Rust, Ellen Martha (Carryn Hanson) Rust, Jennifer (Ray) DeMarco; eight grandchildren, Nathaniel (Megan Bracket) Rust, Airynn (Sam) Quest, Laura (Zack) Jones, Ellen Marie Rust, Ariel DeMarco, Johnathan DeMarco, Julie DeMarco, Jason DeMarco and four great grandchildren, Phoenix Rust, Erza Jones, Levi Jones and Emry Jones.
