WOONSOCKET - Normand L. Berard 85, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2024 at home with his loving family by his side.

He was the beloved husband of sixty-one years of Suzanne (Carpentier) Berard. He was born in Woonsocket, the son of the late Leo J. and Hortense I. (Dansereau) Berard. Normand was a Woonsocket police officer serving in the detective division for many years, retiring in 1982. He was a passionate New England Patriots, Bruins, Celtics, and Red Sox fan. He was an amazing cook, a self-taught chef who enjoyed creating culinary masterpieces for his family. He loved the Cape, especially spending his mornings with a cup of coffee watching the boats at Wellfleet Harbor. His greatest joy, however, was making people laugh and making them feel at ease.

In addition to his loving wife Suzanne, he is survived by his children: Donna M. Goode and her husband Daniel of Franklin, MA, David P. Berard and his wife Doreen of North Smithfield, and Linda J. Cournoyer and her husband Kenneth of Franklin, and ten grandchildren: Lauren and Christopher Goode, John, Ryan and Matthew Cummings, Meagan and Brett Berard, and Cameron, Kyle, and Evan Cournoyer. He was predeceased by his daughter Lisa Cummings and her husband William.

His funeral will be held Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at 9:00 AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St, Woonsocket with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 in St. Joseph's Church, Mendon Rd Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Tuesday, April 30, 4-7 PM.
