Orize Dunne Obituary

LYNNFIELD, MA - Orize Dunne, age 73, of Lynnfield went to heaven to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ Monday, March 13 at her residence.
Born in Brava, Cape Verde on December 14, 1943 she is the daughter of the late Antonio "Totoi" and Maria Alleluia "Malili" Lopes.
Mrs. Dunne was raised in Dakar, Senegal before moving to the United States nearly 50 years ago. Orize moved to the U.S. in pursuit of the American dream and opened her own business in the hair styling industry. As a successful business woman, she opened two salons in Union Square, to include the iconic Chez Orize salon, and became a well-known and well-loved fixture in the Somerville community.
Mrs. Dunne met her beloved husband Thomas P. Dunne in 1980. They had spent 37 loving years together, which included memorable trips to Aruba and Vegas. She was a great cook and loved to prepare meals for family dinners on Sundays. Christmas was Mrs. Dunne's favorite holiday; it encompassed her love for Jesus Christ as well as her generous giving spirit. Her door was always open to everyone during the Christmas season.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son Francis Monteiro of Lynnfield; her step children: Thomas Dunne, Christine MacLean and her husband Scott, and David Dunne. She is the loving sister of Autilia and her husband Gregorio, Manuel, Maria and her husband Bill, and Rosie and her husband Arthur. She is the grandmother of Rachel M. Belanger and her husband Ryan and Ryan T. Silva. She is the aunt of: Clotilde, Antoine and Paola, Henri, Danielle, Christophe, Michelle, Yanick, his wife Sandi; and the great aunt of Tiana, Michelle, Givanni, Monique, Anahi, Lexy, Adriana, Gianni, Skye and Isabella.
Her funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Wednesday at 9am followed by a funeral mass in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, corner of Salem & Grove Sts, Lynnfield at 10am. Interment to follow at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Visitation for relatives and friends at the Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4-8pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Miniso de Escola Materna (Primary Orphanage for children) (Padre Pio), P.O. Box 7153, Brockton, MA 02103.
