Ralph Lundgren Obituary

LINCOLN - Ralph Ashton Lundgren, 87, of Lincoln, entered eternal rest on September 14, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband to Madeline (Leonard) Lundgren, they were married for 61 years. Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Raymond and Edna (Ashton) Lundgren. Ralph was a 1954 graduate of West High. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a career Firefighter for the City of Pawtucket from 1957-1988, retiring as Assistant Chief.

Besides his wife, Madeline, Ralph is survived by his children, Scott Lundgren, Kristen Lundgren (Thomas Gallager), and LeeAnn Golden (Joseph). Ralph was the brother to Robert Lundgren, Edna Smith, and Edith Giordano. He was predeceased by his brother Raymond Lundgren. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Alison Goodnow, Joseph Golden, Tori Golden, Haley Emerson, Benjamin Emerson, Matthew Lundgren, and Sarah Lundgren. Ralph was the great grandfather to 6 great grandchildren.

He was also the favorite uncle to all his nieces and nephews.

Ralph's joy in life was spending time with his family. He spent summers camping with family at Maple Park, and winters vacationing in Saint Augustine Florida, and Hillsboro Beach Florida. He enjoyed countless trips to Disney World with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He spent many hours attending his grandchildren's sporting events, concerts, going on road trips, and teaching them to drive.

Ralph always enjoyed a good time. He was very social and spent over 50 years enjoying loud, fun dinner parties with "Supper Club", and many nights of laughs by the campfire with "The Cluster". Ralph had a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh. Ralph was always willing to help anyone in need. Over his lifetime, he had donated more than 20 gallons of blood to the RI Blood Center. He was noted as "Father of the year" by the nuns at St. Edwards, who always called him when they were in need. He was the "go-to" to assist the great aunts. One of the aunts, Sister Miriam Thomas, would always say "what would we do without Ralph". Our deepest gratitude goes out to Hope Health and the Lincoln Fire Department for their care.

Family and friends are kindly invited to a Funeral Service on Saturday, September 23rd at 9:30 AM in St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 670 Weeden St., Pawtucket, RI. Burial with Military Honors will follow in RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours will be on Friday, September 22nd, from 4:00-7:00 PM in the Manning-Heffern-O'Neill Funeral Home, 220 Cottage Street, Pawtucket.
