Robert Scott Obituary

ORLANDO, FL - Robert A. (Bob) Scott from Orlando, FL., originally from Woonsocket for most of his life, passed on November 10, 2016. He was the husband of Carol A. (Laplume) Scott, whom he married June 18, 1977. They were married for 39 years. Born in Woonsocket, RI, he was the son of the late Henry (Busty) Scott and the late Irene (Squash) (Provencal) Scott.
He graduated from Woonsocket High School and served in the US Navy, serving in the Vietnam War. He worked for several Housing Complexes as a maintenance man, until he became ill from heart and lung disease.
He was a gold club maker, took classes in Texas, and enjoyed playing the game. He was also an emergency room volunteer at Landmark Medical Center, later getting his CNA license working part time there.
Besides his wife Carol he is survived by a son Christopher (Chris) Scott of Providence, daughter Donna Scott and fiancé Bobby Ndiaye of Woonsocket and Sally Scott of Warwick, and one granddaughter Khady, the joy of his life.
Bob also leaves one sister Nancy Scott of Orlando, one brother Earl Scott of California, and the late brother Raymond Scott, formerly of Woonsocket.
Bob was active with the YMCA volleyball team and traveling team, the Jaycee Organization and adult baseball teams. Later in life, he worked with Adoption RI with parents in adoption classes.
He was a longtime member of the Woonsocket Elks Chapter 338, and Orlando Chapter 296. While with the Woonsocket Chapter, he worked on the kitchen committee. Bob loved to cook, one of his greatest passions.
He was a member of the Mended Hearts Organization (A cardiac support group for people with heart disease), serving on the convention committee from 2010 through 2014, as Assistant Regional Director of the Northeast Region and later as Regional Director. He started the first Mended Hearts Support Group at Landmark Medical Center, serving as its first president.
Bob served on the National Board of Directors 2011 through 2013, traveling to Washington, DC to advocate about heart disease and talk about living with the disease.
After moving to Orlando with his wife, Carol, he worked for a time as a Greeter at Disney's Epcot.
And lastly, he had just finished training at the Lake Nona VA Medical Center in Orlando to become a volunteer there. Bob never let his illness stop him. He never gave up and had a positive outlook on life.

My heartfelt condolences to my Carol, His and Donna. More so my condolences to my cousins Nancy and Earl, his immediate family and our extended family. Because Bob was older than me I knew him all of my life. We shared many Sunday afternoons together because my mom insisted visiting Aunt Irene every Sunday. He will be sorely missed.

To Bob's loved ones,

How lucky we were to have met Bob through the Mended Hearts Chapter # 338 at Landmark, which he organized. We have many good memories of those days and still continue the work Bob started.

Bob was a loving, generous and giving man who always found time to assist others in so many ways.

He loved cooking and how grateful we were to be the recipients of his delicious recipes.

Bob and Carol's, Bichon Frise, Buddy, became part of our family when Rene took him for daily walks before Bob and family moved to Orlando, Florida.

RIP dear Bob. You deserve the best.

Lots of love and prayers for you and your loved ones.

we'll all miss our Uncle Bob,but I will treasure the joy of all the times I enjoyed his company,I never had any brothers so thankfully I had trio of great uncles who took time to take me to their ballgames and fishing as a kid..and later in life, share some beers with..very well written obit which reflects how he enjoyed not just family, but also reaching out to others in the community, doing his part.I will never forget how hard he and Aunt Carol worked to help care for our grandparents in their later years.RIP,Uncle Bobby..
