Sheila Holtzman

FRANKLIN - Sheila (Krugman) Holtzman, 91, formerly of New Jersey, the mother of Michael Holtzman, former Woonsocket Call reporter and formerly of Franklin, died Jan. 25 at her home at The Sterling Aventura, Fla. She was the wife of the late Harry Holtzman, who passed away in 1987.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., a daughter of the late Morris and Fannie (Kaplan) Krugman, she grew up in Brooklyn, graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and married Harry, her devoted husband of 38 years, on Memorial Day 1949.
She was a homemaker during her married life, moving from Brooklyn with her husband and two children to New Jersey where they built their home in Englewood Cliffs in 1960. Sheila was active doing volunteer work for several Jewish organizations, was a founder of the Order of the Eastern Star Munn Chapter and its first matron. She enthusiastically collected photos of family and friends and liked to travel.
In addition to her son Michael and his wife Charron of Barrington, R.I., she leaves a daughter Barbara Holtzman of Wakefield, R.I.; three grandchildren, Benjamin Holtzman, Jessica George and Jason George; three great-grandchildren, Olivia, Wyatt and Sammy, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was pre-deceased many years ago by her sister, Elaine Keating of Norwood, N.J.
A graveside service was observed Jan. 29 at Montefiore Cemetery, Queens, N.Y.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Blasberg-Rubin-Zilbert-Levitt-Weinstein Memorial Chapel, Miami, Fla.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
