Walter "Argie" Bodnar

CUMBERLAND - Walter "Argie" Bodnar of Cumberland passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at the home of his daughter, Lynn, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Sophie (Kuzdeba) Bodnar. Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Michael & Anna (Charna) Bodnar.
He is survived his children, June Therien and Lynn Bodnar of Cumberland and Ronald Bodnar of Florida, three grandchildren, Donna and her husband Frank Newton of Burrillville, Tracy Bodnar of Lincoln, Bryan Bodnar of Cumberland and two great grandsons, Hunter and Mason Newton. He is also survived by his sister Eugenia Sawyer of Woonsocket.
He was the brother of the late Beatrice Macchi, Stella Carabina and William Bodnar.
Before retiring he worked for various manufacturing companies. He was the owner of Walt's Tap on North Main St. Woonsocket, for many years. In his younger years Walter was a fast pitch softball pitcher, playing at Social Park. He played for Walt's Tap, Reith's TV Woonsocket, Coffee's Cafe, Cranston and various other teams.
He served in the US Army and was member of Cercle Laurier. He enjoyed his garden, fishing, cooking, going to the casino and watching the Red Sox. Walter was devoted to his family and will be greatly missed.
A Funeral Service will be held Monday at 11:30am in the Egidio DiPardo & Sons Funeral Home, 75 Harris Ave., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 4 until 8pm. www.dipardofuneralhome.com
