Vaughan Gilmore Obituary

Rev. Vaughan Quincy Gilmore, of Rockford departed this earthly life July 25, 2025. He was born November 1, 1952 in Buffalo, NY the son of Roosevelt and Hortense Gilmore. Vaughan lived in Rockford over 50 years coming from Birmingham, Alabama. He married the former Savannah Williams, July 31, 2009. Vaughan was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church where he served as an associate minister. He was a former member of Bethel Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama where he was raised. Vaughan's greatest joy was preaching and teaching God's word; serving at St. Luke M.B. Church, Ebenezer Baptist Church and his last assignment was being the Pastor of Starlight M.B. Church. He was a Rockford Police and Fire Chaplin; a former teacher of the Rockford Vicinity Baptist Association; and a member of the Rockford Ministers Association. Vaughan was a loving and devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. He is survived by his wife Savannah Gilmore, children, Kerry (Diane) Dozier, Brandi Gilmore, Taylor (Floyd) Fletcher, Brenton Norris and Antonio Williams; 8 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; brother Roosevelt (Karen) Gilmore; a host of cousins, in laws and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Roosevelt and Hortense and brother, Selton Gilmore. Services will be held 12:00 noon Friday, August 1, 2025 at Macedonia Baptist Church 1720 Morgan St. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
