Elaine Green Obituary
Mary Elaine Farr Green was born February 10, 1935 to the late Coy Hampton Farr and Emma Mae Burt in Pontotoc County. She was raised by her grandparents, Coy and Quebelle Farr.
Elaine professed Christ at an early age and joined Springville Chapel M.B. Church. She was a member of Cherry Creek M.B. Church, and later moved her membership to East Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member until her health declined.
She attended and graduated from Pontotoc Attendance Center. She entered into the work field as a caretaker of children and the manufacturing field. She was also a private duty housekeeper, and a great master of soul food cooking and baking. Her life was filled with love and joy. She took pride in cooking for her family, friends, and the community. She was a dedicated employee to Graceland Nursing Home and the Pontotoc Sheriff Department, to name a few.
On Sunday, December 8, 2024, at Pontotoc Nursing and Rehab Center, she gained her wings and went to take her rest with the Lord.
She was united in marriage with Alvis Lee Green on May 22, 1961. They were blessed with a daughter, Mary Ann Martin, and a son, Willie Henry Roberson.
Elaine leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter, Mary Ann Martin of Pontotoc, MS; one daughter in law, Mary Jane Roberson of Pontotoc, MS; four sisters, Joyce Below of Pontotoc, MS, Mary Lee Burt of Indianapolis, IN, Dorothy Sims of Chicago, IL, and Josephine Lewis of Indianapolis, IN; two brothers, James Farr (Patricia) of Pontotoc, MS and Willie Lee Burt (Lillie) of Grand Prairie, TX; five granddaughters, LaShun R. McKnight, Phebe Roberson, Liquanda Martin, Merissa R. Dandridge, and Shanea Roberson; seven great grandchildren, Jaigen McKnight, Joryie McKnight, Raniya Fisher, Jaxon Dandridge, Kaidyn Dandridge, Aeriyn Holmes, and Ayla Holmes; special friends, Florine Roberson and Patsy Howell; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and loving friends.
Preceding her in death are her parents; grandparents; husband, Alvis Lee Green; son, Willie Henry Roberson; one granddaughter, Krystal M. Chewe; three brothers, George Lee Burt, Jr., Sammie Lee Burt, and Detroit Spencer.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 10, 2024, from 1:00 PM-7:00 PM at Payton Mortuary. Family hour will be from 6:00 PM-7:00 PM. Funeral service will be Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at 1:00 PM at East Baptist Church in Pontotoc, MS.
