George Cheney Obituary

George Richard Cheney, 73, passed away March 26, 2025 at his home in Houlka. He attended Columbus High School and was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Houlka. On March 13, 1971, George married the love of his life, Dorothy Dotson Cheney and they have spent 54 wonderful years together. He worked in product development at Astro Lounger for over 20 years and then Southern Motion for 7 years until retirement. When George wasn't working, he and Dorothy enjoyed camping and fishing and cruising the road on his motorcycle. He loved spending time with his family and especially spoiling his grandchildren. George was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and will be missed dearly by his family and friends. Memorial Service will be held at a later date. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Cheney of Houlka; son, Glenn Cheney and wife Michelle of Pontotoc; daughter, Lisa Pulley of Houlka; sister, Martha Talley of Walnut, MS; 9 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Betty Weeks Cheney; 2 sons, Randy Cheney and Michael Cheney; sister, Betty Gail Bramlett; and brother, Tommy Cheney; and son-in-law, Scott Pulley.
