Ronnie Crawford Obituary
Ronnie Lee Crawford, the eldest of three sons born to Lee Alvis and Elizabeth Crawford, was welcomed into the world on June 11, 1949. On July 17, 2025, he exited the stage of this life at North Mississippi Medical Center, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, curiosity, and unwavering devotion.
A lifelong student of history and a voracious reader, Ronnie's mind was a treasure trove of knowledge. He had an insatiable appetite for learning, often diving deep into the past to better understand the present. His love of genealogy was more than a hobby-it was a mission. He traced the Crawford lineage with pride, celebrating the family's Scottish heritage by attending Highland Games and donning his kilt with flair and reverence.
Ronnie's professional life was marked by fierce advocacy and heartfelt service. In his long career with Mississippi Family and Children Services, he championed the needs of children living in the margins. His work was not just a job-it was a calling, and he answered it with empathy, integrity, and tenacity.
Music was Ronnie's constant companion. From his high school days in a band named The Kelts, another band in junior college called Charge of the Light Brigade, to his daily ritual of listening and playing along with beloved tunes, music was woven into the fabric of his life. Whether he was singing, strumming a melody, or tapping along to a rhythm, he found joy and solace in sound.
Ronnie not only loved learning, he loved to teach others. In his home church-Ingram Baptist Church-he gladly served to pour into the lives of others out of his love for God and God's Word. He was active in a jail ministry and relished the opportunity to speak truth to another group in the margins of society.
Above all, Ronnie was a man devoted to family. He took immense pride in his children and grandchildren, always ready to share his wit and wisdom. His advice-often delivered with a signature blend of seriousness and humor-was a guiding light to those who sought it. He was the kind of man who could make you laugh while helping you navigate life's toughest moments.
Ronnie Lee Crawford leaves behind a legacy of love, intellect, and service. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, and his memory will continue to inspire those who carry his spirit forward.
Survived by his wife Linda, daughter Alice Adair (Kevin), grandchildren Cooper and Savannah, brothers Ted (Catherine), Carey (Patti), and nephews Erik Crawford and Brian Grisham.
Preceded in death by his parents, son Alan, his grandparents Clint and Lillian Cooper, James Alpha and Gracie Crawford.
