Shirley Daisy Russell

Shirley Daisy Russell, 85, passed away at Pontotoc Health and Rehab in Houston on Friday, December 20, 2024. Born November 18, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Authur Rucker and the late Della Mae Brown Rucker. Shirley was a long-time member of Faith Bible Church. She retired as a factory worker, and she spent the longest part of her career working with PEP. She married J.B. Russell, and they spent many decades together until his passing in 1994. Shirley was a very Godly woman, and she loved her Lord and Savior. She loved to read her bible whenever she got a chance. She was a faithful church goer, and she attended services any time the doors were open. Shirley loved her dogs, and she had many throughout her life. She also was an avid participant in arts and craft. She loved to make things. Shirley was loved deeply by her family and friends, and her memory will forever be present in their hearts. Southern Funeral Home has the honor of serving Shirley's family. Funeral Services celebrating her life will be held on Monday, December 23, 2024, at 1:00pm at Southern Funeral Home. There will also be a Visitation on Monday from 12:00pm until service time at the funeral home. Bro. Johnny Cherry will be officiating. Interment will follow at Houston City Cemetery. She leaves behind her son, Kenneth Wayne Byars of Pontotoc; daughters, Elizabeth Ann Dotson of Starkville, Patsy Jean Smith (Jack) of Houston, Betty Jo Hester (Terry) of Pontotoc, and Joyce Williams of Houston; stepson, Roger Barnett (Pam) of Houston; grandchildren, Amanda, Trisha, Emily, Mendy, Micheal, Angie, Sam, Misty, Maria, and Audreanna; great-grandchildren, Anna, Dexter, Nathan, Riley, Kinzley, Sadie, Lakelyn, Makayla, Haley, Tylar, Chance, Corey, and Lillyanna; and great-great-grandchildren, Jayda, Ethan, Isabella, Braylon, Olivia, Mackenley, and Madilyn. She was preceded in death by her parents, Authur and Della Mae Rucker; husband, J.B. Russell; brother, Authur Rucker, Jr.; and great-grandson, Gavin Toler.
