Joseph Teel Obituary


JOSEPH F. (FRED) TEEL, 82, of Coopers Creek, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2025. He was born in Big Chimney, WV on September 7, 1942. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bodie and Donna Copen Teel; brothers, Loyst Gene, Dizzy Dean, Forrest (Woody) and Russell; sisters, Janet Veltri and Louise Barton, and his best friend Chuck Burdette.
Fred leaves behind his loving wife of 61 years, Carol. He is also survived by his son, Kevin (Lisa) and daughter, Tammy (Keith) Bailey, all of Elkview; grandsons Luke and Sam Teel and Ben and Zak Bailey, all of Elkview; sister, Mary (Jerry) Ryder, of South Charleston; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Fred was loved dearly and will be missed by so many.
Fred attended Elkview High School. He was a member of the IUOE Local 132 for over 50 years as a heavy equipment operator. Fred enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He especially loved spending time on his beloved farm with his son Kevin, Tim Barton, and Eugene Taylor. He loved to have his family and friends come to the farm for cookouts on holidays in the summers.
No funeral services will be held.
At his request, Fred will be cremated and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
Hafer Funeral Home in Elkview is in charge of all arrangements.
