Katharine Rasmussen Obituary

KATHARINE ANNETTE MICKEY RASMUSSEN, 91, of Saint Albans, WV, died of cardiac arrest on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Thomas Memorial Hospital in South Charleston, WV.
Kay was born May 1, 1934, in Laramie, WY, and attended public schools there. She received a B.A. degree from the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Wyoming in 1956; her major field of study was economics and was combined with a minor in geology. While at the university she was a member of Chi Omega sorority. She became a member of the United Methodist church as a teenager and maintained that membership the remainder of her life.
She married Roger Rasmussen in August 1956 and they resided in Rapid City, SD, and Boulder, CO, while he completed his education. They moved to Saint Albans, WV, in 1959 with their two young children where her husband was employed by Union Carbide Corporation. She was a devoted member of St. Andrew United Methodist church in Saint Albans, serving on many committees as well as being a member of a United Methodist Women's fellowship. She was the lead teller and financial secretary for the church for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Mickey and Frances Welton Mickey, a sister Betty Ruth Mickey Wilson, and a daughter-in-law, Sandra Kiser Rasmussen.
She is survived by her husband, Roger of Saint Albans; a son, Karl, of Austin, MN; a daughter, Joyce, of Saint Albans; a daughter, Diane of Mooresville, NC; and a daughter Amy of Keene, NH; grandchildren Andrea, Eli (Xio), and Melissa, all of Austin, MN.
Her body has been cremated and a private family service of celebration and remembrance will be held at a later date.
