Wayne Call

WAYNE CALL, 78, woke up on September 30, 2023 in his Heavenly Home with restored sight and running into the arms of his "Pappy" William Huel Call; mother: Anna Rock Call, and sisters: Anglea Young and Jane Call.
Wayne never met a stranger and was special to everyone especially his brothers: Larry (Cindy) Call and Tommy Call both of Hurricane; sisters: Ellen Wilson of Winchester, KY and Karen Childress of St. Albans; as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with his caregivers: Lisa Elkins and Kristy Frampton.
Silver Maple Farm is where Wayne learned several trades from helping in the hay and tobacco fields to caring for the cattle and horses. In the kitchen, you would find Wayne cooking a skillet of fried potatoes and making a pot of coffee so strong it could walk.
The barn at the farm was his Grand Ole Opry stage performing Johnny Cash or auctioneering off the livestock.
The highlight of his year was attending the Putnam County Fair. Wayne was always on the go from walking many miles in his early years to later enjoying side-by-side rides with his brother.
Wayne's Funeral Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, October 5, 2023, at Chapman Funeral Home Hurricane, WV, with his longtime friend Rev. Larry Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in Valley View Memorial Park, Hurricane, WV. Dinner to follow at Providence Baptist Church, 229 Rocky Step Rd., Scott Depot, WV.
Friends may visit the family Wednesday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
