Yesterday
The heart sometimes has a hard time putting into words and there just simply aren't enough kind words to say about this dear, hard-working, gentle, kind man who always had a funny story to tell. His faith was strong and always tempered what he said. We were discussing pickle recipes and my multiple failed attempts - he brought me a jar of the best tasting crisp pickles I had ever eaten! While our hearts are saddened by his illness and how swiftly it took him from us, we have hope only found in knowing Jesus Christ as our Shepherd and Savior, which Jim did, and that this is not goodbye, but see you in a little while.

The things I will remember most about Jim are his laugh, his humble nature, and most of all the discussions we had about faith. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Knowing he is with our Lord makes me smile through the sadness. He is truly at home and has perfect peace now. May prayers for peace and comfort for the family during this time.

I enjoyed working with Jim. I know the hospital will miss him but not as much as those who called him dad or papaw. He loved you dearly and spoke of you often. You know ow by the testimony Jim left he now resides on the golden streets of glory in a perfect body, with no more pain or sickness.

Jimmy was a true inspiration to everyone that knew him. He touched so many lives through his nursing career and through the preaching of God’s word. I loved his stories. He had a way about telling them that made you laugh. Those trainings at SWVMHI won’t be the same without him. He was always so kind to me and always listened, when I was going through hard times. He was such a leader at SWVMHI and everyone loved him. We have lost a wonderful person, nurse, friend and leader. Mom’s funeral was July 9th and Jimmy had planned to come but wasn’t able to that day because of being sick. He would have been there, if he was able. He always thought of others and was a true servant of the Lord, preaching the Word, putting others first. He loved the Lord and is with him now. No more cancer, no more pain. He loved and was so proud of his children, Whitney, Aaron, and Joshua. And those grand babies! “ Nothing like them” he would say. He loved them dearly. I’m saddened of the trials he had to go through here on earth but know he is rejoicing in heaven with his mom and his dad. I’m so glad Sammy was able to retire and spend these last weeks with him.

I am deeply saddened by the loss of Jim. He will be remembered for his positive attitude, unwavering support, and genuine kindness. Always ready to help and listen—whether with work challenges or personal matters, Jim had a way of making everyone feel valued and understood. A true professional and compassionate friend, he greeted everyone warmly and brought calm to any situation. His presence will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to get to know him. May God Bless you Jim!

Jim was an amazing person. There are no words that could even begin to touch the bereavement we are feeling from this loss. I always loved listening to his stories. I was just laughing the other day, thinking of the last funny story he told. He was so animated and you knew that what he was telling you was straight from the heart. When I heard the news of Jim's passing, the song, "What a day that will be", came to my mind. I can only imagine the celebration he had. Jim will always be missed here by his family and friends but his legacy and memory will always be kept close to our hearts.

Family & friends,
Jim was special to all of us in different ways. He made my return to the Admissions Units less stressful following my incident and departure from Adolescents. He had a way using humor to soften hard struggles and an easy way about him to make sure you fit in. I’m thankful to call him my friend and will seek his face in Heaven someday. Prayers for you all.

Jim was an amazing human being. He would leave notes in my mailbox at work letting me know I was appreciated and doing a good job. Jim was easy to work with and talk to, if you had an issue he would fix it for find someone that could. He was always so funny in trainings. Jim will be missed greatly. Sending prayers for his family during this time and always.

Mr. Lundy was a great man who made me feel welcomed when I came to work at this facility just a few short years ago. As we we spoke that day I noticed a sign in his office which basically spoke about living life and starting fresh with courage. We spoke of the passing of my sister and how this had affected me and he was very generous and kind with his words. He later gave me the picture and told me he wanted me to have this in my office. I will always treasure this and remember him for making me feel so welcome.

My first job as an RN was working with Jimmy. He made night shift tolerable because of his wit. He could tell a story that would make us all laugh and he was wonderful with patients too. We worked the telemetry floor(heart) and death visited often. That's why his humor was a welcome relief. He will be missed by so many. He is with our Lord and savior and that means so much to those who loved him.

I knew Jim through working with him at DBHDS. His love of family and his faith was so strongly evident in all of our interactions. I will never forget what a wonderful person he was and how he was always willing to help with anything I would ask for his help with. His laughter and joy will never be forgotten.
I pray for Gods peace and comfort for you during this most difficult time.

Family,
They are not any words to express my sorrow. Until we see him again let’s remember all the good times we shared. When I heard the news this morning I sang a couple verses of “Victory in Jesus”, I will always remember standing beside him in the choir and hearing him singing it and many other songs in the voice that only he could do. And I’ll never forget that “Jim Lundy” wit. Such as asking him one cold Sunday morning “brother Jim what’s the temperature going to be in heaven? He replied “I don’t know brother but it’s going to be just right” !!! He was one of a kind !!
My prayers are with everyone.
